Nanocoating Surfaces
CSL Materials' patent-pending method creates a monolayer of nanoparticles on the surface of individual ceramic grains or substrates. The result is a homogenous distribution of minor additives and, if desired, tailored colloidal properties.
Applications include:
- Sintered Ceramics
- Metal investment casting washcoats (ceramic particle slurry) with improved coating and long-term suspension stability
- Catalysts

To the right (image 2) is an image of the same alumina powder at the same magnification, but it has been coated with nano-sized silica using CSL's proprietary method. The silica is evenly distributed over the alumina surface."

Localized Oxygen Scavenging
CSL Materials has developed a method of creating a thin oxide coating to protect non-oxide surfaces and to improve adhesion to polymers. Applications included silicon carbide heaters, carbide and boride-based armor systems, and non-oxide refractory protection. |

Selective Glass Batching
Selective batching is a patented method (US Patent 7,260,960) of manipulating glass raw materials such that the melting time is reduced by up to 80% compared to traditional methods. The end result is reduced energy, pollution, and increased plant productivity.

On the right (image 2) is the same composition at the same time and temperature, but prepared using the selective batching technique. Note the significant reduction in the amount of unmelted material."
