CSL Materials was formed in January 2006 with the vision of becoming an internationally recognized, industry-focused provider of innovative technology and products in the area of ceramic and glass. The company will grow by taking advantage of market opportunities through intellectual property licensing and technology commercialization.

PEOPLE

William M. Carty, Ph.D. - President
Dr. Carty has been a professor at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in Alfred, NY since 1993. He holds a Ph. D. from the University of Washington and a M.S. and B.S. from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He has also served as an associate research scientist in the catalyst research and development laboratory of Shell in the Netherlands. He is one of the founders and a former director of the Whiteware Research Center (WRC), an industry-university consortium for traditional ceramic research. Dr. Carty is a fellow of the American Ceramic Society.

Christopher W. Sinton, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Sinton has a broad background in the environmental, energy, and materials sciences in addition to extensive project management experience. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from Oregon State University and a B.A. from Middlebury College. He is the former director of the EPA-supported Center for Environmental and Energy Research at Alfred University where he managed over $1 million per year in grants from the EPA, DOE, NYSERDA, and industrial partners. He is the author of "Raw Materials for Glass and Ceramics: Sources, Processing, and Quality Control" (2006 John Wiley & Sons).

Hyo Jin Lee - Vice President of Research and Development
Mr. Lee is an expert in ceramic and glass processing. Most recently he was a senior research associate at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, where he also served as manager of the research facilities and staff for the Whiteware Research Center. He received an M.S. from Alfred University, and an M.S. and B.S. from Kyonggi University in Korea. He has worked closely with over forty different companies and has managed over fifty industry-based projects.

Edwin D. Reeves - Senior Engineer
Mr. Reeves has worked in the refractory ceramics industry for ten years. He spent two years at the University of Missouri-Rolla (now MS&T) developing cast monolithics after receiving a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University. In addition to engineering, he has worked on technology licensing, technology transfer to overseas manufacturing, and evaluation of third party manufacturers for production and acquisition. He has developed refractory and process materials for molten metals, petroleum and syn-gas production, aerospace, and glass manufacturing industries.
