CSL Materials is Awarded Grant from NYSERDA
Issued July 2009

Alfred, New York - CSL Materials has been awarded a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development (NYSERDA) to apply its MTI coating system to sintered alumina systems. The goal of the project will be to determine the reduction in time and temperature conditions needed to sinter dense alumina ceramics treated with MTI compared to conventional mixing techniques. Based on initial work, we expect to reduce firing temperatures by 150 to 200°C and firing times by at least 30% while at the same time significantly improving the mechanical properties.

CSL Materials LLC Announces Patent for Selective Glass Batching
Issued September 1, 2007

Alfred, New York - CSL Materials LLC announced today that patent number 7,260,960 was issued on August 28, 2007 by the US Patent Office for Dr. William M. Carty's selective glass batching. CSL Materials has an exclusive agreement with the Alfred University to license and commercialize the technology. Dr. Carty is a professor at the Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University and the President of CSL Materials.

"Selective glass batching is the next step to producing higher quality glass at lower energy costs," said Dr. Christopher W. Sinton, CSL's CEO. Initial testing of the process indicates that the melting time can be reduced by up to 80% compared to traditional methods.

In addition to the US patent, CSL Materials has patents for the technology pending in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, and the European Union.
